Information on pedagogical use and song background is available in the repertoire section of The Planning Binder.
Students sit in a circle with both feet extended. One student sits in the middle.
As the class speaks the rhyme, the student in the middle passes the beat around the circle on the students’ shoes. At the end of the rhyme, the person on whom the last beat lands gives their age. The beat continues around the circle according to the age of the student (5 more shoes for 5 years old, 7 more shoes for 7 years old, etc.). The person on whom the final beat lands is out.
