What’s Inside:

  • Program Option 1:

    • This is a 14 x 8.5 printed program. Print it front and back, then fold in the middle. This is my favorite format for printed programs! I love that I have more room to add things like student names, special thanks, or a welcome letter. There are options here for both a color, and black and white program.

  • Program Option 2:

    • This is an 8.5 x 11 printed program. Print it front and back, and you’re done! This is an incredibly practical way to print programs. It’s minimal fuss, and it includes everything you need your parent community to know. There are options here for both a color, and black and white program.

  • Program Option 3:

    • No printer? No problem! This is a digital option meant to be read on a cell phone. I love this option for creating full color programs without the high cost of colored printing. Download the program as a pdf, upload to a school-approved website, and use a QR code for viewing.

  • Welcome Letter:

    • This welcome letter can be read it at the beginning of the program, or printed it on the back of the first program option. Since I use a blend of the Orff and Kodály philosophies, there are two letters here for you to use, depending on your training. You can also use these as ideas to write your own from scratch!

  • Parent Invitations:

    • There are documents here for both a traditional performance, and a musical informance. You can mix and match the elements of each document, or use the ideas presented to create your own!

  • Slides:

    • As you create your production, it’s helpful to give parents something specific to watch or listen for. This can be a new musical concept or skill, a student-created element, or game directions. These slides have examples of musical elements you can point out, and example National music Standards for Kindergarten - 3rd grades.

  • Parent Education Ideas:

    • Parent education is a huge part of music advocacy! I like to display examples of student work along the hallway walls leading to the program venue. This could be written compositions, audio examples, videos of games, examples of the improvisation process, or interviews with students about what they’ve learned in music class this year. Upload the artifacts to a school-approved site (such as your school website or the Seesaw app) and use a QR code generator to create a link.

  • Stage Layout:

    • Use these slides to think through how students will enter and exit the presentation space, and where instruments should be placed. You can mix and match these layouts to fit your unique program and physical space. You can also create your own from scratch!
